Thursday December 29,
2011....Waking up in Mexico!
Thursday we all had a
bit of a sleep in (until around 9:30). I tried to get up at 8am as the "plan" was to claim some chairs/the best spot on the beach....but I just could not get going (this turned out
fine, because even though we did not get to the beach until around 11am, there were lots of chairs and space on the beach).
Breakfast was great,
consisting of the normal buffet fair...eggs (scrambled, fried, omelette's, poached, boiled, even egg whites) plus toast, sausage, bacon, fruit, cheeses, tomatoes, various muffins and every other kind of breakfast/brunch food you can think of. I made a beeline to the omelet station and had a pretty traditional
breakfast. The only complaint is that the coffee leaves a little bit to be desired.
We explored the resort in order to figure out the set up, but for most of the day we simply laid out in the sun, played in the water and read our books (well 3 of us did anyway….Chad did not sit still for longer than
3 minutes during any part of the day). He worked out in the exercise room, played beach volleyball, and
went to the buffet for a plate of food approximately every 15 minutes).
We found the resort to be very nice, clean, nicely set up and large enough to have everything.....but not so large as to intimidate us small town folk! Pictures below

Tough to find a nicer beach than this ANYWHERE? |
|
This is usually where we ate breakfast and lunch (just off the beach)
...Chad was here so much I am surprised he didn't get charged rent! |

The pool was so big there was no way to fit it all into one picture
(and these two pictures represent about 1/2 of the total area) |

In front of our building was "jungle" |

This is the main eating area (the Quetzel restaurant) |

As mentioned most of the day Jordan, Heather and I
just decompressed, relaxed, got some sun...but most importantly discovered Mojito’s – YUM!
Supper was the buffet,
this time much less hectic than the previous night’s meal which felt like a bit
of a race/competition to see who could eat the most, the quickest...and then we went to
the show….these are put on by Star Friends, the Iberostar Hotel Entertainment
and Recreation staff.

Lady Gaga was there!....well....sort of |
It was great fun, and
we were already felling like we were into a nice "routine", leave the beach at 5pm-530pm, shower and get ready,
have happy hour, go for dinner….then head to a show. We stayed after the show
to dance and party the night away….and this time we also headed to Mascara’s with the kids (yikes)...thankfully no pictures there (what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico)!
(my dancing
improves in direct proportion with the number of Mojito's consumed)
