Today I taught all morning, and then sat in on one of David's classes this afternoon (he is one of the Chinese teacher's who visited Medicine Hat College earlier this spring). I also have assignments coming in for all 3 classes this week, and will try and prepare and complete the final exams for my courses....in other words, I plan to make this my heavy "work week"
I did take a picture today (that in 10 years if I am reading this blog will remind me of one of the unique aspects of China) which is the split pants that little kids wear. These are pretty cute, and actually fairly clever as it means that no one here buys diapers. While Pamper's, Luv's and all the other western diaper companies can not be happy about this, I am told that it is also easier and quicker to potty train kids.
However, by potty-training, this brings up another point......they quickly learn to use the squat-type toilets that are common in China (see, some people might talk about the Chinese history, culture or the language....I, on the other hand, will talk about bathrooms!) A lot of the bathrooms in China are the squat-type (and of course I have a picture)!
As a guy, if you have to pee, no big deal.....as for women, I am not sure what their bathrooms look like? Further, for anything other than peeing, I have to add in that I am VERY glad to have a standard toilet in my apartment....and that's all I have to say about that crappy subject (hahaha)
Tonight I am going for supper with Chris, Lee and Ryan (some of the other foreign teacher group here at E&A College) and we generally grab something pretty simple.....but Thursday, I am going to go with David and his wife for roast peking duck....which I am really looking forward to!
Here are the pictures, and I'll leave it up to Chad and Heather as to whether these comment's/pictures get posted into the blog (because they technically have editorial control over what gets published).
